House Commission VIII: Honorary Incentives to Improve Teacher Welfare

Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of House Commission VIII, Ansory Siregar, stated that the provision of additional incentives for madrasah teachers is a government effort to deliver welfare for non-civil servant educators across the archipelago. “So, hopefully this decision of ours can add to the joy of honorary teachers,” said Ansory Siregar in Banda Aceh on Wednesday. The statement was delivered after a specific working meeting of House Commission VIII concerning educational personnel with the Aceh Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and regency/city offices throughout Aceh, held in the multipurpose hall of the Aceh Governor’s office in Banda Aceh. Previously, House Commission VIII also approved a proposed additional budget for the Ministry of Religious Affairs amounting to Rp41.8 trillion, focused on three strategic programmes: accelerating madrasah revitalisation, strengthening the institutional capacity of the Directorate General of Islamic Boarding Schools, and affirming the increase of incentives for non-civil servant teachers who do not yet hold educator certification. Specifically for the cluster of increasing incentives for non-civil servant teachers without certification, the approved additional budget allocation is Rp295.8 billion to raise the unit cost to Rp1.5 million per month. This incentive will be disbursed at the end of June 2026. Ansory explained that non-civil servant honorary madrasah teachers have so far only received an incentive of Rp250,000 per month. Therefore, House Commission VIII together with the Ministry of Religious Affairs agreed on the increase. “Alhamdulillah, we in House Commission VIII have approved increasing the incentive for non-civil servant honorary madrasah teachers. The exact amount we do not yet know, but it is around Rp1 million to Rp1.5 million,” he said. He added that this incentive increase is greatly needed by more than 230,000 honorary madrasah teachers, considering they were not appointed as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). “They were not appointed as PPPK. So we are increasing their incentive, which nationally amounts to approximately 230,000, and in Aceh around 2,200 people,” concluded Ansory Siregar.
