The House of Representatives’ (DPR RI) Commission VIII has approved the need for a down payment transfer for the organisation of the 1448 H/2027 M Hajj pilgrimage amounting to 858,743,189.64 Saudi Riyals (SAR), equivalent to IDR 4,007,471,080,797.299. The approval was reached during a working meeting between Commission VIII, the Minister of Hajj and Umrah, and a hearing with the Head of the Executing Agency and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

The meeting’s conclusions were read out by the Chairman of Commission VIII, Marwan Dasopang, following discussions and input from council members. Marwan stated that Commission VIII approved the need for a down payment transfer related to tent costs and the basic Hajj service package for the year 1448 H/2027 M.

‘Commission VIII of the DPR RI approves the need for a down payment transfer related to tent costs and the basic service package for the year 1448 H/2027 M in the amount of SAR 858,743,189.64, equivalent to IDR 4,007,471,080,797.299, assuming an exchange rate of 1 SAR = IDR 4,666.67,’ Marwan said while reading the meeting’s conclusions. The approval was granted so that the government could meet the payment deadline to service providers in Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting’s discussion, the leadership explained that the payment schedule falls between 15 and 19 July 2026, prompting the DPR to deem an immediate decision necessary. However, Commission VIII also issued a note to the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah. In the second point of the meeting’s conclusions, the commission urged the ministry to promptly complete the official documents related to the down payment request and its utilisation.

‘Commission VIII of the DPR RI urges the Minister of Hajj and Umrah to complete the documents related to the down payment transfer request and its use, and to submit them to Commission VIII,’ Marwan stated. Before the conclusions were ratified, several members of Commission VIII questioned the wording of ‘approval’ in the draft conclusions, as the supporting documents from the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah were deemed incomplete. The meeting leadership explained that the approval was still granted given the deadline for payment to Saudi Arabian authorities. The leadership stressed that the approval does not eliminate the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s obligation to submit all supporting documents to the DPR as a form of accountability for the approved down payment requirement. The meeting then agreed on the conclusions and closed the agenda for discussing the tent cost and basic service package requirements for the 1448 H/2027 M Hajj pilgrimage.
