Jakarta – Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will summon PT Pertamina (Persero) to demand an explanation and the basis for calculating the price increase of the non-subsidised fuel, Pertamax. Commission VI member Nasim Khan stated on Saturday, 13 June 2026, that whilst his party understands the policy of raising Pertamax prices has drawn public criticism, any decision to adjust fuel prices must consider the people’s purchasing power. “We believe that every fuel price adjustment decision must be made transparently, taking into account global oil price conditions, exchange rates, and public purchasing power,” Nasim said. He added that Commission VI will summon Pertamina to explain the reasons and their calculations in setting the new Pertamax price. “Commission VI will request an explanation from Pertamina regarding the basis for calculating the price increase, including ensuring that the pricing mechanism is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations,” he explained. It was previously reported that Pertamina Patra Niaga announced a price increase for Pertamax and Pertamax Green fuel products starting 10 June 2026. According to a company press release, from that date the price of non-subsidised Pertamax (RON 92) rose from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) rose from Rp12,900 to Rp17,000 per litre. Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth MV Dumatubun said the price adjustment was made after an evaluation process according to the price formula set by the government. The company stated the price adjustment was decided in coordination with the government as regulator and carried out in accordance with a periodic evaluation mechanism considering global oil price developments and economic market prices. Roberth conveyed that the non-subsidised fuel price adjustment was made in accordance with prevailing regulations and was part of efforts to maintain the sustainability of energy supply and quality fuel distribution. The company assured the security of fuel supplies across Pertamina’s network of public filling stations throughout Indonesia.
