House Commission V Supports Solo Pedestrian Corridor Development from Jebres Station to Pasar Gede
The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission V has committed to recommending that relevant ministries follow up on the Solo City Government’s aspirations regarding the development of a pedestrian corridor. The project aims to connect Solo Jebres Station, Pasar Gede, and the Mangkunegaran Palace area, transforming it into a walkable tourist destination.
This commitment was conveyed during a specific working visit to Solo on Friday (17/7/2026), where the delegation overseeing infrastructure and transportation met with Solo Mayor Respati Ardi. “We will recommend to the relevant ministries that this aspiration be followed up immediately,” said Danang Wicaksono, the working visit coordinator.
Mayor Respati Ardi presented several strategic proposals for central government funding support. The primary focus is constructing a pedestrian corridor from Jebres Station to Pasar Gede, designed to cater to tourists arriving by train, particularly from Yogyakarta and Madiun. The plan also includes revitalising the Solo Balapan Station area to strengthen pedestrian access and intermodal integration, as well as preserving historical buildings.
Additionally, the city government requested improvements to railway crossing safety along Jalan Slamet Riyadi, including the installation of special markers, audible warnings, and visual signals to alert motorists and pedestrians of approaching trains. The working visit also involved representatives from the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Transportation, and the Directorate General of Railways.
