House Commission V Member Urges Government to Strengthen Coordination for Smooth 2026 Mudik
Member of the House of Representatives’ Commission V, Danang Wicaksana Sulistya, has called on the government, through relevant ministries and agencies, to thoroughly prepare its strategy ahead of the 2026 Lebaran mudik season. He expressed hope that optimal services would be provided to ensure public comfort.
The Deputy Chairman of Commission V from the Gerindra faction, whose portfolio covers infrastructure and transport, stated that mudik is a matter of public necessity that the state must serve optimally. Danang expressed hope that public transport fares would not surge and suggested that discounts should ideally be offered given the high demand for tickets.
“Beyond that, all parties need to ensure the smooth distribution of logistics,” Danang said in a statement on Wednesday (18 February 2026).
“All stakeholders, including ministries and agencies, are obliged to provide excellent service to guarantee the comfort and safety of the public during mudik journeys,” he continued.
Danang specifically called on the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Public Works, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), and other stakeholders to strengthen cross-sector coordination. He stated that the state must be present to guarantee the smooth flow and comfort of public mobility.
“The state must guarantee the smooth flow, security, and comfort of public mobility when celebrating Eid al-Fitr,” he said.
Danang also urged that infrastructure and transport preparations not be carried out in a last-minute or “overnight rush” manner. According to him, all stages of preparation must be planned thoroughly and in a measurable fashion.
“Good planning will minimise the risks of congestion, accidents, and weather disruptions. This is a form of the state’s presence in serving its people,” he said.
