House Commission IX to Summon Head of National Nutrition Agency Next Week Over Electric Motorcycle Procurement

Jakarta, VIVA – The House of Representatives’ Commission IX will summon the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to explain the procurement of electric motorcycles for the Heads of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).

Deputy Chairman of Commission IX, Charles Honoris, stated that the summons is scheduled for next week.

“We have scheduled the BGN to appear before the House next week so we can question various issues regarding the National Nutrition Agency, including the procurement of around 20,000 electric motorcycles by the BGN,” Charles told reporters on Friday, 10 April 2026.

Charles explained that there was no consultation from the BGN with Commission IX regarding the planned procurement of the electric motorcycles.

“No, because if it had been communicated to us here, we would certainly have rejected it,” he said.

Furthermore, he assessed that the procurement of electric motorcycles is inappropriate amid the government’s ongoing efficiency efforts. Therefore, he urged the BGN to cancel the procurement.

“However, with this procurement occurring in the midst of the government’s efficiency measures, it is highly inappropriate, so we are asking the BGN to cancel that procurement,” he concluded.

Previously reported, the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, revealed the reasons for procuring 21,801 units of electric motorcycles priced at Rp 42 million each for the Heads of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).

He stated that the electric motorcycles are to support operational needs in areas with difficult transportation access or hard-to-reach locations.

“Yes, this programme reaches areas that will be very difficult to access. Reaching villages and areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. It’s to support operations,” Dadan told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Central Jakarta, quoted on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

Dadan mentioned that the electric motorcycles are not only for use by the Heads of SPPG but can also be used by employees.
