Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR) has scheduled a summons for the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) for a meeting regarding the procurement of tens of thousands of motorcycles for the operational needs of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) project. “Next Monday, we will invite BGN along with several other agencies,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission IX DPR Charles Honoris when met at the DPR/MPR/DPD complex in Jakarta on Thursday, 9 April 2026.

He said the meeting agenda with BGN will also discuss the governance of MBG. According to him, BGN must explain the procurement of these 21,000 electric motorcycles to the public.

In particular, Charles emphasised that the procurement of these motorcycles was carried out by BGN amid the budget-saving instructions from President Prabowo Subianto. This PDI Perjuangan politician assessed that the motorcycle procurement is inappropriate, thus requesting that the policy be cancelled. “The main goal of the MBG programme is to improve the nutritional condition of Indonesian children, so budget usage must focus on that main objective,” said Charles.

In a separate opportunity, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana said the procurement of 21,000 motorcycles for MBG operations was from the 2025 budget. He stated that the two-wheeled vehicles will be distributed to the heads of nutrition fulfilment service units (SPPG). “We will distribute them later for the operations of all personnel in the SPPG, especially in difficult areas,” said Dadan on Wednesday, 8 April 2026.

Dadan claimed that the budget allocated to purchase one unit of motorcycle is Rp 42 million. According to him, the price of the electric motorcycle is below the market price. “The market price is Rp 52 million, but we bought it, if I’m not mistaken, for Rp 42 million, below the market price,” he said.
