House Commission IX Summons Head of National Nutrition Agency over Electric Motorcycle Procurement
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Deputy Chairman of House Commission IX Charles Honoris revealed that his commission will summon the Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, to attend a meeting to discuss the procurement of electric motorcycles for the Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG).
“We have scheduled to summon the BGN to appear before the House next week so we can question various issues regarding the MBG, including the procurement of 20,000 electric motorcycles carried out by the BGN,” Charles said when met at the House building on Thursday (9/4/2026).
Charles stated that his side had never received any consultation regarding the BGN’s procurement of tens of thousands of electric motorcycles.
“There was none (consultation to House Commission IX), because if it had been conveyed to us here, we would certainly have rejected it,” Charles said.
According to Charles, the policy does not align with the main focus of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme, which is to improve the nutritional condition of Indonesian children.
In addition, he also assessed that the procurement of electric motorcycles was inappropriate amid the government’s budget efficiency policy.
“The existence of this procurement amid the efficiency being carried out by the government is very inappropriate, so we are asking the BGN to cancel that procurement,” he emphasised.
“Even around Rp 20 million can get one unit of motorcycle. So if I may say it honestly, the procurement of around 20,000 motorcycles is very improper, so we want to question later what the purpose is, what the basis of that procurement is like,” he concluded.
Previously reported, the procurement of electric motorcycles for the MBG programme has become a hot topic in society.
BGN Head Dadan Hindayana explained that the vehicles are needed to support distribution to hard-to-reach areas.
“Yes, this programme reaches areas that will be very difficult. Reaching villages, areas that can only be accessed by motorcycle. That’s to support operations,” Dadan said at the Palace, Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
He added that the electric motorcycles are not only used by the Heads of Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG), but also by other employees. However, he assured that the procurement will not continue this year.
“For now, we’ll stop at that amount, because this is the 2025 budget, right? There is no planning for purchases in 2026,” Dadan explained.
