House Commission IV Schedules Meeting with Forestry Minister to Probe Kuansing Land Conversion

Wakil Ketua Komisi IV DPR RI, Alex Indra Lukman, announced that a working meeting with Forestry Minister Raja Juli has been scheduled. The meeting aims to investigate the land conversion process in Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), which falls under the ministry’s purview.

Alex stated that while the commission is a partner of the Ministry of Forestry, the meeting will not address the alleged legal case involving Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby. Instead, the DPR’s oversight function will focus solely on the mechanisms of the land conversion process. The meeting is expected to take place next week, likely on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Additionally, Alex noted that the meeting coincides with discussions on the 2027 State Budget (APBN), and all of the commission’s partners, including the Ministry of Forestry, will be invited.

The investigation follows the arrest of Kuansing Regent Suhardiman Amby by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in a bribery case. It was revealed that Suhardiman had met with Minister Raja Juli at his office on 2 June 2026. The Minister explained that the meeting was an open audience, after which the Regent left behind an envelope covered by a folder. Upon realising this, the Minister immediately ordered his aide to return the envelope. The return was carried out at the Kuantan Singingi Police Station on 12 June 2026, seventeen days before the Regent’s arrest.
