House Commission III Working Committee to Oversee Graft Case Against Former Jampidsus
The Working Committee (Panja) for Oversight of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is committed to monitoring the handling of an alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU) case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah (FA).
Commission III member Abdullah stated at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday that the oversight would commence following the transfer of the case from the National Police to the Attorney General’s Office. “Because we have formed an oversight working committee, we will observe the process. Yesterday, the working committee and I were also involved in mediation,” Abdullah said.
He explained that the working committee’s supervision covers the entire case handling process, from the investigation stage through to the trial. According to him, the public also needs to monitor the case’s progress. “It will also be supervised by the KPK,” he added.
The National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) transferred the handling of the alleged corruption and money laundering case involving Febrie Adriansyah to the Attorney General’s Office on Saturday, 11 July. Kortastipidkor Chief Inspector General Totok Suharyanto stated that the transfer was based on an agreement between the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office as a form of synergy in law enforcement.
Meanwhile, the Junior Attorney General for Oversight and Acting Jampidsus, Rudi Margono, asserted that the Attorney General’s Office would handle the case professionally while upholding the principle of the presumption of innocence. The Attorney General’s Office announced on Monday that it would form a special team to handle the case. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said the special investigative team would study all examination files, evidence, and alleged criminal acts before proceeding with the legal process. “We will form a special team of investigators. We will study the case based on the investigation reports, the existing evidence, and the alleged criminal acts,” Anang stated.
