House Commission III Vows to Oversee Febrie Case, Backs Attorney General's Office
Vice-Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Rano Alfath, has addressed the ongoing legal process concerning the corruption case that has ensnared former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Commission III believes Attorney General ST Burhanuddin will manage the organisation well and ensure law enforcement continues to function.
“We respect the ongoing legal process. All stages must be carried out professionally, objectively, transparently, and in accordance with legal provisions. Commission III will certainly oversee the process to ensure it runs well while maintaining public trust in law enforcement institutions,” Rano stated on Sunday (12/7/2026).
Rano noted that during various working visits to the regions, he witnessed the hard work of the prosecutor’s office in carrying out its duties. He highlighted major cases that the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has successfully uncovered. “In various Commission III working visits to the regions, we witnessed first-hand how prosecutors work with full dedication. Many major cases have been successfully uncovered, legal assistance to regional governments continues to be strengthened, state financial recoveries are ongoing, and legal services to the public are improving. This shows that the hard work of Adhyaksa personnel is not only visible at the central level but is also genuinely felt across all regions,” he said.
The PKB legislator is confident the Kejagung will remain solid in carrying out law enforcement. He stated that the case involving Febrie Adriansyah will not diminish the legal services provided by the Kejagung to the people. “I am confident that the ranks of the Attorney General’s Office, as well as all High Prosecutors’ Offices and District Prosecutors’ Offices throughout Indonesia, will remain solid in carrying out their duties and functions as they have been doing,” Rano said.
“Law enforcement is an institutional effort carried out by thousands of Adhyaksa personnel who dedicate themselves daily to the nation and state. I believe what is happening today will not reduce their spirit to continue providing the best legal services to the community,” he added.
Rano also expressed appreciation to Attorney General ST Burhanuddin for demonstrating a commitment to professionalism. He is confident that under Burhanuddin’s leadership, institutional governance will run smoothly. “We respect the leadership of Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, who has consistently built a culture of professionalism and integrity within the Prosecutor’s Office. We also believe his swift steps in carrying out organisational restructuring, including appointing an Acting Jampidsus who has a good track record during his service at the KPK and Jamwas, will ensure the wheels of law enforcement continue to run optimally,” he said.
According to Rano, any dynamics faced by a state institution must be used as momentum to increase accountability. He also hopes the institution’s integrity will be strengthened following this incident. “I am optimistic that every challenge will become a valuable lesson for institutional strengthening. I believe the Attorney General’s Office will navigate this situation well and further strengthen its commitment to delivering clean, professional, and just law enforcement,” Rano stated.
Furthermore, Rano explained that Commission III of the DPR RI has formed a Law Enforcement Oversight Working Committee as part of its constitutional function. He stressed that the committee was formed to ensure the legal process runs objectively. “This working committee was formed not merely to conduct oversight, but also to ensure that the entire law enforcement process runs professionally, objectively, accountably, and in accordance with legal corridors. Commission III wants to ensure the Prosecutor’s Office remains strong while maintaining public trust,” Rano said.
He added that the Commission III working committee will oversee the legal process in three cases: alleged corruption in coal procurement, the management of PT ASABRI, and alleged corruption in the settlement of a subsidiary’s debt at PT Krakatau Steel. He hopes every institution in Indonesia works professionally, independently, and with integrity. “We will carry out our oversight function to the maximum on these three cases. But at the same time, Commission III will continue to support the Attorney General’s Office, both at the central and regional levels, so that it can maintain the various achievements it has made so far,” Rano said. “Public expectations of the Prosecutor’s Office are increasing, and this trust must be maintained through professional, independent, and integrity-driven performance that is aligned with the interests of law and justice.”
