House Commission III Urges TNI, Police, and AGO to Remain United

Member of House Commission III from the Golkar Party faction, Soedeson Tandra, has urged the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the Indonesian National Police (Polri), and the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) to remain solid in eradicating corruption. He argued that corruption issues could potentially disrupt several priority programmes of President Prabowo Subianto. “Moreover, in the President’s future programmes, energy issues and energy security are national priorities that must be supported together,” Tandra said at the Parliament Complex in Central Jakarta on Thursday, 9 July 2026. Tandra’s statement was a response to the dynamics of the relationship between the TNI, Polri, and the Attorney General’s Office in the case of alleged corruption and money laundering related to coal. Previously, dozens of heavily armed TNI personnel guarded the home of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, on Jalan Radio, Kramat Pela, South Jakarta, on Wednesday night. The tight security by more than one TNI squad followed a move by joint investigators from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Metro Jaya Regional Police, who raided the de’Clan Signature Café in Cipete, South Jakarta, on the same day. The café was searched in connection with an investigation into corruption, bribery, and money laundering. Tandra also asked the Attorney General’s Office to solidly support police investigators in thoroughly probing the coal supply corruption case, which had triggered a total blackout in Sumatra. He stressed that all parties are equal in the eyes of the law, whether officials, businesspeople, or employees. Previously, the Head of the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, explained that the searches were conducted simultaneously at eight locations, including the café in Cipete and Point Money Changer. These searches covered three major cases: the PT Asabri case, the Sumatra coal corruption case, and the PT Krakatau Steel case through a joint investigation scheme. Responding to the situation on the ground, the Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, asked all parties to respect the legal process. He reminded that actions obstructing an investigation can be subject to criminal charges. “We convey to anyone who tries to obstruct the investigation process that they can be processed under Article 21 of the Corruption Eradication Law,” Budi said. As a note, the tension surrounding Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah is not the first occurrence. On 19 May 2024, Febrie also experienced a stalking incident by personnel from the Police’s Special Detachment 88 Anti-terror unit while having dinner at the same café, which at that time was still named Gontran Cherrier.
