House Commission III Urges Police and Military to Collaborate in Handling Acid Attack Case
House Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament is urging the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and the National Police (Polri) to collaborate in pursuing the perpetrators of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The commission also reminded authorities of the regulations under Article 170 of the new Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) regarding the handling of such cases.
“House Commission III of the Indonesian Parliament urges the Polri and the TNI to continue collaborating in handling the acid attack case against Mr Andrie Yunus,” said Habiburokhman during a press conference at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
Habiburokhman specifically mentioned Article 170 of the new KUHAP, which regulates connectivity procedures, whereby criminal cases committed jointly by civilians and military/TNI members are tried in the general judicial environment. He requested that law enforcement officials adhere to these regulations.
“Adhering to the provisions of Article 170 of Law No. 20 of 2025 on the New Criminal Procedure Code in handling this case,” he stated.
In agreement with Habiburokhman, PDIP Deputy Chair of Commission III Safaruddin also emphasised the regulations under Article 170 of the new KUHAP. He encouraged that the resolution of the case be handled in the general court.
“As mentioned by the Commission Chair earlier, we will adhere to Article 170 of the new Criminal Procedure Code regarding how trials between military and civilians will proceed. It will be illustrated there,” said Safaruddin.
