House Commission III to Form Supervisory Team Following Jampidsus Resignation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, stated that his party will form a supervisory team to ensure the handling of corruption cases continues smoothly following the resignation of Febrie Adriansyah from his position as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
“Commission III of the DPR RI is fully committed to overseeing the handling of this case until it is resolved with legal certainty by forming a Supervisory Team,” Habiburokhman said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, Febrie’s resignation must not hinder the law enforcement process for the corruption cases currently being handled. He assessed that this momentum should instead be utilised by law enforcement officials to complete investigations professionally and transparently.
Habiburokhman also urged the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police to continue working independently without intervention, despite allegations of involvement by certain individuals in the cases under investigation. He stated that Commission III will optimise its supervisory function to ensure coordination between the Attorney General’s Office and the National Police is maintained throughout the case handling process.
“The country needs its law enforcement officials to be united in moving forward. We in Commission III will continue to ensure the supervisory function runs optimally so that inter-agency cooperation remains strong and on the right track,” he said.
Previously, Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin accepted Febrie Adriansyah’s letter of resignation from the position of Jampidsus. Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said the resignation was a form of commitment to maintaining integrity, objectivity, and neutrality in law enforcement, and was related to the legal process being handled by National Police investigators.
Febrie Adriansyah had earlier provided an explanation regarding the discovery of cash and gold bars during a search of a house in the Sentul area, Bogor Regency, West Java, conducted by a joint team from the National Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Regional Police. In a press conference at the Jampidsus Building, Jakarta, on Friday (10/7), Febrie acknowledged that the searched house was his private residence. “Regarding the Sentul house, it is indeed the private residence of the Jampidsus and has been for a long time. The process of ownership can be seen from the beginning,” he said.
Meanwhile, Metro Jaya Regional Police stated that investigators have not yet named any suspects in the investigation into alleged corruption, bribery, gratuities, and money laundering (TPPU) being handled jointly with the National Police’s Kortastipidkor. Investigators also secured a number of documents, mobile phones, and other pieces of evidence for the purposes of the investigation. The search was part of a joint investigation into alleged corruption in coal governance, alleged corruption at PT Asabri and PT Jiwasraya for the 2020–2025 period, as well as alleged money laundering in the settlement of debts from PT CBS to PT KNI.
