House Commission III Supports South Kalimantan Police's Hard Work in Eradicating Drugs

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habib Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi, has expressed support for the South Kalimantan Regional Police’s efforts to eradicate illegal drug trafficking networks in the province. “The police’s efforts here must be continuously supported by all of us, all elements of society, including us in Commission III,” said Habib Aboe Bakar in Banjarbaru on Tuesday. He assessed that South Kalimantan is vulnerable to the circulation of narcotics, particularly methamphetamine and ecstasy, as reflected by the large amount of evidence seized by law enforcement officials. He therefore urged all parties to work together to assist the South Kalimantan Regional Police and the National Narcotics Agency in uncovering and apprehending drug trafficking perpetrators. “South Kalimantan is a region of ulama, with many mosques, but the drug situation, my God, must be watched, so do not play around,” he said. He conveyed his appreciation to the South Kalimantan Police Chief and the Director of Drug Investigation for their leadership, which is considered capable of optimising the performance of personnel in the field. “Keep up the spirit of guarding the nation’s defence fortress. Let us keep Banua safe and clean from drugs,” he stated. Habib Aboe Bakar attended the destruction of evidence consisting of 172.4 kilogrammes of methamphetamine and 556 ecstasy pills seized by the South Kalimantan Regional Police’s Drug Investigation Directorate from case disclosures during the period of 24 May to 21 July 2026.
