House Commission III Schedules Meeting on Alleged Sexual Harassment by Ustadz
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives Commission III, Habiburokhman, stated that his commission has scheduled a public hearing to discuss the case of alleged sexual harassment by an ustadz who also serves as a judge in a tahfidz competition on television, initialled as Syekh AM. According to information obtained, Habiburokhman said in Jakarta on Thursday, the alleged sexual harassment case occurred around 2017 to 2025. He stated that the public hearing will be held at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on 2 April 2026. “We hope that this public hearing can accelerate the legal process against the perpetrator and bring justice to the victims as soon as possible,” said Habiburokhman. In the public hearing, he will invite representatives of the victims, including their legal counsel, as well as the Director of Crimes Against Women and Children and the Eradication of Human Trafficking at the National Police Headquarters Criminal Investigation Agency. He explained that the alleged perpetrator is not Ustadz Soleh Mahmud, nor Ustadz Syamsuddin Nur Makka (Ustadz Syam). Habiburokhman said that there has been a misunderstanding regarding several ustadzes. “So, it is not those two, but someone who is usually called Syekh,” he said.
