House Commission III Pushes Forward with Asset Forfeiture Bill Discussions During Recess

House Commission III held a public hearing (RDPU) with two senior lawyers regarding the draft Asset Forfeiture Bill during the parliamentary recess. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman stated they would push forward with discussing the bill. The meeting took place in the Commission III meeting room at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday (3/8/2026). The two senior lawyers in attendance were Maqdir Ismail and Juniver Girsang.

“We are grateful today to have two very senior lawyers as resource persons, Mr Maqdir Ismail and Mr Juniver Girsang, who certainly have extensive experience in law enforcement,” Habiburokhman said to open the meeting. Habiburokhman, who chaired the meeting, emphasised that they would continue to accelerate the discussion of the Asset Forfeiture Bill. He conveyed that they are currently drafting the bill.

“We will go full throttle on this Asset Forfeiture Bill in terms of forming this law, starting from its drafting. So now we are in the process of drafting the bill, and we want as much input as possible from the public,” he said. Habiburokhman then mentioned that Commission III had also visited three provinces to absorb public aspirations regarding the Asset Forfeiture Bill. The meeting proceeded with Maqdir Ismail delivering his presentation.

“During this recess period, we visited three regions yesterday: North Kalimantan, North Maluku, and Central Papua. We also absorbed aspirations from the public regarding this Asset Forfeiture Bill,” Habiburokhman explained.
