House Commission III Praises Police Task Force for Saving Nearly IDR 1 Trillion in State Funds from Illegal Imports
Chairman of House Commission III, Habiburokhman, has praised the Illegal Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force (Satgas Gakkum Lundup) of the National Police’s Criminal Investigation Department for saving nearly IDR 1 trillion in state funds from various illegal import cases. He described the task force’s actions as progressive. “As Chairman of Commission III of the House of Representatives, I give the highest appreciation and a thumbs up to the National Police, especially the Anti-Smuggling Task Force, for their swift, tactical, and progressive response in following up on the President’s order to eradicate all forms of smuggling in the country,” Habiburokhman told reporters on Monday (29/6/2026). The Gerindra Party deputy chairman noted that the President’s instruction was executed by the task force within four days. He lauded the police for uncovering import cases ranging from gadget and food smuggling to textiles. “In just four days after the President’s instruction was issued, the National Police has demonstrated truly extraordinary and impactful performance for national economic stability. This is a swift move that deserves praise. The task force’s success in uncovering major cases should be a golden record,” Habiburokhman said. He detailed the cases, including the smuggling of 57,000 mobile phones (iPhones and Androids) with potential state losses estimated at IDR 253 billion, the smuggling of 25 tonnes of onions threatening food sovereignty and local farmers, and the smuggling of used clothing with a fantastic turnover reaching IDR 669 billion. Commission III will support the police’s progressive performance. He hopes the eradication of illegal imports can be completed to its roots. “Commission III, as a working partner of the National Police, will continue to fully support this firm and uncompromising measure. We hope this momentum is maintained, pursued to its roots, and does not slacken. Thank you to the Chief of Police and all ranks of the Anti-Smuggling Task Force. Keep working to protect the law, the people, and the nation’s economy,” he stated. The task force is known to have saved state finances of almost IDR 1 trillion from various illegal import cases, an achievement reached within the last two months. The task force was formed by National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo in April 2026, in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision to crack down on illegal import cases. Director of Special Economic Crimes at the Criminal Investigation Department, Brigadier General Ade Safri Simanjuntak, said the law enforcement action was a real commitment by the National Police to maintain national economic stability, protect domestic industry, and ensure all trade and import activities in Indonesia are conducted according to the law.
