House Commission III Praises Police for Uncovering Perpetrators in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
House Commission III held a special meeting regarding the arrest of four perpetrators who threw acid at KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Commission III praised the performance of the National Police (Polri). This was stated by the Chairman of Commission III, Habiburokhman, during a press conference after the special meeting at the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). He expressed appreciation to Polri for uncovering the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus. “House Commission III of the Republic of Indonesia appreciates the performance of Polri and all related parties who have uncovered the incident and the identities of the perpetrators of the acid attack on brother Andrie Yunus,” said Habiburokhman during the press conference. Commission III also requested that the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) provide protection to Andrie Yunus, his family, and his organisation. “House Commission III of the Republic of Indonesia requests that LPSK immediately facilitate comprehensive protection for brother Andre Yulius, his organisation, his family, and other related parties in accordance with legal provisions,” he stated. Previously, the Metro Jaya Police announced two perpetrators who acted as executors in the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus, with initials BHC and MAK. However, the police suspect that the total number of individuals involved in this acid-throwing action exceeds four. “At this time, we suspect that we can inform that the two people we showed earlier from this Polri data, one with initials BHC, two with initials MAK. However, from our investigation results, we do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators could be suspected to be more than four,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3).
