House Commission III on Attorney General's Office Securing Karo Chief Prosecutor Over Amsal Case: Hopefully a Lesson
Jakarta – A member of the House of Representatives’ Commission III, Hinca Pandjaitan, has appreciated the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) for securing the Head of the Karo District Prosecutor’s Office, Danke Rajagukguk, in connection with the case of videographer Amsal Sitepu.
“Yes, I think the Attorney General’s Office has responded. I appreciate it, and it is indeed the voice of the public, our collective voice,” Hinca told reporters on Monday, 6 April 2026.
Hinca hopes that the Amsal Sitepu case can serve as a lesson for law enforcement officials.
“Hopefully, it becomes a lesson for everyone. Not just for them, but for all. Especially since our new Criminal Procedure Code is our duty to oversee to ensure it is properly implemented,” he stated.
“Once again, I appreciate the Attorney General’s Office and the North Sumatra Provincial Prosecutor’s Office for responding to this,” he added.
Previously reported, the Head of the Law Enforcement Information Centre (Kapuspenkum) of Kejagung, Anang Supriatna, stated that his office had summoned the Karo Chief Prosecutor, Danke Rajagukguk, to Kejagung.
In addition, the prosecutors handling the Amsal Sitepu case were also recalled.
“On Saturday, 4 April evening, they were indeed secured by the Attorney General’s Office intelligence team,” Anang said in his statement on Sunday, 5 April 2026.
He explained that Kejagung would examine the case handling by the Karo prosecutors, including issues of professionalism in managing the case.
Later, he assured that the Attorney General’s Office would announce the results of the examination. According to him, the Kejagung team would prioritise the principle of caution and uphold the presumption of innocence.
“If violations are later proven, there will be internal sanctions; we just wait for the results,” he said.
