House Commission III Legislator Demands Severe Punishment for Febrie Adriansyah

Member of House Commission III, Nasyirul Falah Amru, has urged law enforcement to impose the death penalty on former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. The demand is based on the impact of the suspect’s corruption, which is considered detrimental to the public interest. “If possible, he should be sentenced to death. Why? Because this concerns the public interest,” Nasyirul Falah Amru stressed during a meeting at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Saturday. The man familiarly known as Gus Falah stated that Febrie Adriansyah’s actions were deeply troubling and tarnished public trust in law enforcement institutions. He highlighted the suspect’s connection to a blackout incident in Sumatra due to coal governance issues, as well as other major cases such as PT Asabri and Krakatau Steel. In line with this, Gus Falah supported the proposal by House Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman to form a working committee. The committee aims to oversee the legal process to ensure it remains independent, transparent, and fair. Meanwhile, the Head of the Corruption Eradication Corps at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency, Brigadier General Totok Suharyanto, confirmed that Febrie Adriansyah has been named a suspect. He is charged with alleged corruption and money laundering in the handling of the PT Asabri case and other matters. “We have named Febrie Adriansyah a suspect in the alleged corruption and money laundering case,” Totok stated. In addition to Febrie Adriansyah, investigators have also named a private individual with the initials DR as a suspect for their alleged role in money laundering. During the investigation, a joint team seized a staggering amount of evidence from a search at a house in Sentul, Bogor, on Thursday. The evidence included 74 kilograms of gold bars and cash in various currencies worth Rp476 billion. Currently, the handling of Febrie Adriansyah’s case has been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office for further investigation. This step is the result of synergy between the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps and the Attorney General’s Office in completing a joint investigation related to corruption in coal governance, PT Asabri, and PT Jiwasraya.
