Commission III of the House of Representatives has decided to form a working committee (panja) to oversee the revelation of the acid attack case on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. The panja will monitor the case until it is fully resolved.

The decision to form the panja was made during a special meeting at the House of Representatives in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026). Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman initially read out the meeting’s conclusions.

He specifically asked each faction present at the meeting about the formation of the panja. All factions agreed.

“I propose whether the members of Commission III agree to the formation of the Panja (Working Committee) of Commission III regarding the acid attack case on human rights defender Andre Yunus? Agreed?” asked Habiburokhman.

“Agreed,” replied all factions.

Habiburokhman stated that the formation of this panja is to oversee the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus. He mentioned that the Commission III panja will further investigate the case with the police and the victim’s legal representatives.

“Commission III of the House of Representatives will continue to monitor the handling of this case by forming a Working Committee (Panja) of Commission III of the House of Representatives regarding the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus and conducting working meetings with the National Police (Polri), the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK), and the legal representatives of Andrie Yunus as a commitment to enforcing human rights protection,” he said.

The Metro Jaya Regional Police today also announced developments in the investigation of the acid attack case on Andrie Yunus. Police revealed the identities of two executor suspects and stated that the suspected perpetrators number more than four.

“Currently, we suspect that we can inform that the two individuals we showed earlier from this Police Data are one with initials BHC, two with initials MAK. However, from our investigation results, we do not rule out the possibility that the perpetrators could be suspected to be more than four,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation Directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Iman Imannudin, at Metro Jaya Regional Police Headquarters.

The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) has also spoken out regarding this case. In a press conference held at TNI Headquarters today, the TNI revealed that one of its soldiers is suspected of being involved in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.

The TNI stated that four of its soldiers are suspected as perpetrators of the attack, three of whom are first officers, namely captains and first lieutenants.

“Captain NDP, First Lieutenant SL, First Lieutenant BHW, Sergeant ES,” stated the TNI Deputy Chief of Staff for Military Police, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, in a press conference at TNI Headquarters.
