House Commission III: Febrie Case Involves Individuals, Not the Institution

House Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman has stressed that the legal case against former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah is a matter involving individuals, not the institution. He urged that the legal process not trigger friction between law enforcement agencies. The statement was made during a press conference with the Police Corruption Eradication Corps (Kortas Tipikor) and the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes on Saturday (11/7), after the police announced Febrie had been named a suspect for alleged corruption and money laundering (TPPU). “Secondly, we also want to ensure there are no excesses of friction or friction between agencies regarding the handling of this case,” Habiburokhman said. He stressed that the case must be viewed as involving individuals, not the institution. “In any case, this is a case related to individuals, to people, to individuals, not to the institution,” he said. Furthermore, Habiburokhman said House Commission III took the initiative to ensure the case is processed thoroughly according to legal corridors. “Commission III took the initiative to ensure that this case, which has been widely reported recently, can proceed within the legal corridor and be thoroughly investigated legally,” he said. To oversee the process, House Commission III decided to form a Working Committee (Panja) that will conduct special supervision of the case handling. According to Habiburokhman, following the press conference, Commission III immediately held an internal meeting to form the Panja. Going forward, the Panja will oversee in detail the law enforcement process to ensure it remains in accordance with statutory provisions. “In its future work, this Panja will oversee in detail the implementation of law enforcement duties so that they are in accordance with statutory provisions. The law is enforced, and the human rights of the suspects are of course also provided,” he said. Previously, the Head of the Police Kortas Tipikor, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, announced that his party had named two suspects in the case, namely DR and former Jampidsus Febrie Adriansyah (FA). According to Totok, Febrie was named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption and money laundering related to the handling of the PT Asabri case and other alleged corruption cases. On the same day, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin appointed Rudi Margono as Acting Jampidsus, replacing Febrie Adriansyah who resigned from his position. The Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said the appointment was made to ensure the continuity of duties, functions, and authority within the Jampidsus until a definitive official is appointed. He also confirmed that the change of leadership would not affect the handling of ongoing special crime cases.
