The House of Representatives (DPR) Commission III has denied rumours that a presidential letter regarding the replacement of the National Police Chief has been received. Commission III Chairman Habiburokhman confirmed on Tuesday (4/8/2026) that the DPR has not received any such letter and urged the public not to be swayed by unsubstantiated reports spreading on social media.

Deputy Chairman of Commission III Ahmad Sahroni, when met at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, stated that based on his experience, the performance of Police Chief General Sigit Prabowo has been quite good. He acknowledged that rumours of a replacement are natural given that Sigit has served for five years.

Sahroni assessed that Sigit has carried out his duties professionally across various police tasks. He noted that any shortcomings in performance are within reasonable limits, emphasising that no leader is perfect. He expressed confidence that the President will retain Sigit due to his satisfactory performance, despite occasional issues involving individual officers acting in the name of the institution.
