House Commission III Conducts Fit and Proper Test for 14 Supreme Court Justice Candidates
House of Representatives Commission III is conducting fit and proper tests for Supreme Court justice candidates and ad hoc justice candidates at the Supreme Court on Wednesday (12/8).
Abdul Chair Ramadhan, Chairman of the Judicial Commission and the official responsible for the selection process, stated that his office has carried out a series of selection stages since early 2026. At present, 11 Supreme Court justice candidates and three ad hoc justice candidates remain, pending approval from House Commission III.
“Therefore, we hope that what we have done will receive approval from Commission III for the next stage,” Chair said in his opening remarks at the meeting.
Meanwhile, Andi Muhammad Asrun, Chairman of the Selection Committee for Supreme Court Justice Candidates, explained that the selection process began in March 2026, starting with online registration from 26 March to 16 April.
During the registration process, there were 175 applicants for Supreme Court justice, 40 applicants for ad hoc human rights justice, and 60 applicants for ad hoc corruption justice.
The process then continued with administrative screening, which resulted in only 139 of the 175 applicants being declared eligible for Supreme Court justice; 20 of the 40 ad hoc human rights justice candidates; and 60 ad hoc corruption justice candidates.
The third stage continued with quality selection on 5–6 May, and health and personality tests on 3–5 June.
From the quality selection, only 36 of the 139 Supreme Court justice candidates were declared eligible, along with 4 of the 20 ad hoc human rights justice candidates and 2 of the 60 ad hoc corruption justice candidates.
Following the health and personality tests, the numbers narrowed further to 19 Supreme Court justice candidates, 2 ad hoc human rights justice candidates, and 2 ad hoc corruption justice candidates.
The process then continued with open interview tests on 3–7 August. As a result, only 11 of the 19 Supreme Court justice candidates were declared eligible, along with 2 ad hoc human rights justice candidates and 1 ad hoc corruption justice candidate.
That list then proceeded to the final selection stage through the fit and proper test at House Commission III. The complete list is as follows:
