House Commission III Chairman: Constructive criticism will certainly be followed up by the government
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of House Commission III, Habiburokhman, assessed that constructive criticisms from observers will certainly or have already been followed up by the administration of President Prabowo Subianto. However, according to him, not all criticisms are positive or constructive, as there are also non-constructive ones that are even destructive. He also viewed the statement by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya regarding the “inflation of observers” as having some truth. “We must not generalise that all criticisms are not good; conversely, we must not generalise that all criticisms are good. We follow up on the good criticisms,” said Habiburokhman in Jakarta on Monday. According to him, there are observers who claim to be critics, but he assessed what they conveyed as more akin to black propaganda, lies, and hatred. He also accused those parties of having motives to seize power, either constitutionally or unconstitutionally. “We address the bad criticisms by educating the public so that they do not become poison to democracy,” he said. He stated that criticisms containing calls to topple President Prabowo by Saiful Mujani and several other figures also need to be critiqued. He said Saiful Mujani has long been opposed to President Prabowo. “Is Saiful Mujani’s criticism purely disseminated for improvement, or is it merely partisan political operations?” he said. He noted that President Prabowo has at least five years to fulfil his political promises, and the public can evaluate them in the 2029 elections. “If Mr Prabowo’s performance does not satisfy the public, the mandate can be halted; however, if deemed satisfactory, the public can continue to give the mandate for the next five years,” he said. On the other hand, he said that President Prabowo Subianto is committed to upholding democracy. During his leadership, according to him, no Indonesian citizen has been sentenced for criticising or even insulting President Prabowo.
