House Commission III Approves Additional Budget for KPK and BNN for 2027

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) has approved the additional budget proposals submitted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for the 2027 fiscal year. The decision was made after hearing explanations from the heads of both institutions during a working meeting at the parliament complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday. “Agreed? Okay,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission III Ahmad Sahroni as he sought approval from members before striking the gavel. During the meeting, Commission III approved the KPK’s request for an additional budget of Rp989,305,424,000, or approximately Rp989 billion. With this increase, the KPK’s total budget requirement for 2027 rises to Rp2,222,100,661,000, or around Rp2.22 trillion, up from the indicative ceiling of Rp1,232,795,237,000, or roughly Rp1.23 trillion. On the same occasion, Commission III also approved an additional budget for BNN amounting to Rp5,050,055,677,000, or approximately Rp5.05 trillion. Consequently, BNN’s total budget requirement for 2027 becomes Rp6,497,125,257,000, or about Rp6.50 trillion, compared to the indicative ceiling of Rp1,447,069,580,000, or roughly Rp1.45 trillion. “Commission III of the DPR RI will convey the results of the indicative ceiling discussion for the 2027 fiscal year to the Budget Agency of the DPR RI for synchronisation in accordance with mechanisms and statutory regulations,” Sahroni stated. KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto explained that the additional budget would be used to support digitalisation development, management of state officials’ wealth reports (LHKPN), anti-corruption prevention and education programmes, corruption case prosecution, and the strengthening of anti-corruption information systems. Meanwhile, BNN Head Suyudi Ario Seto said the additional budget would be allocated to several activity clusters, including prevention, community empowerment, eradication, rehabilitation, supervision, human resource development, employee expenditure, office operations, and the strengthening of narcotics laboratories.
