House Commission III Affirms Full Throttle Push for Asset Forfeiture Bill, Prioritises Enactment
Chairman of House Commission III Habiburokhman has affirmed that the deliberation of the Asset Forfeiture Bill is being accelerated within his commission. Discussions on revising other laws and bills will be temporarily suspended to prioritise the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
“So we are going full throttle, Sir. For now, we have not scheduled any public hearing meetings for other laws besides this asset forfeiture one. Because it is indeed our priority,” Habiburokhman said during a press conference in the Commission III meeting room at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (13/7/2026).
According to Habiburokhman, there are several other bills that the law enforcement commission should be discussing. However, Commission III is prioritising the Asset Forfeiture Bill to be deliberated until it is passed in a House plenary session.
“So even though the Constitutional Court has ordered us to form the Advocates Law within two years, we cannot schedule it yet. There is also the law on narcotics, psychotropics, but we are fully focused on this asset forfeiture bill,” Habiburokhman stated.
“On Wednesday, we will start going full throttle again, Wednesday and Thursday,” he stressed.
Deputy Chairman of the House Legislation Body Martin Manurung previously confirmed that the Asset Forfeiture Bill remains listed in the 2026 Priority National Legislation Programme. Martin said the legislative process for the bill is still ongoing in Commission III.
Martin’s statement also dispelled narratives circulating on social media that the bill had been removed from the House’s Priority Legislation Programme.
“There has been no decision from a House Plenary Meeting to remove the Asset Forfeiture Bill from the 2026 Priority Legislation Programme. The bill is still registered in the 2026 Priority Legislation Programme as number six, proposed by the House of Representatives. The Asset Forfeiture Bill is being prepared by Commission III,” Martin said in his statement on Saturday (11/7).
