Bahtra Banong, Deputy Chair of Commission II of the DPR RI, has affirmed the importance of using accurate population data as the foundation for properly targeted distribution of social assistance (bansos).

He made the remarks while opening, via video link, the Rebranding of Population and Civil Registration Services event themed “The Urgency of Social Assistance Verification Based on Integrated Population Data Through Digital Population Identity (IKD)” in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, on Friday, 24 July 2026.

The event, a partnership between Commission II of the DPR RI and the Directorate General of Population and Civil Registration (Ditjen Dukcapil) of the Ministry of Home Affairs, formed part of efforts to strengthen the transformation of population administration services through the Dukcapil Rebranding programme.

In his address, Bahtra Banong asserted that valid and integrated population data is an essential element in ensuring that every social protection programme genuinely reaches those entitled to it.

According to him, digital transformation through the use of the Digital Population Identity (IKD) must continue to be accelerated so that the implementation of government programmes becomes more effective, efficient, transparent and accountable.

“The use of accurate population data is an important foundation in realising targeted social assistance distribution. Digital transformation through IKD must continue to be encouraged so that every government programme genuinely benefits those entitled,” said Bahtra.

He also expressed appreciation for the synergy between the Ditjen Dukcapil of the Ministry of Home Affairs, regional governments and all stakeholders in supporting the acceleration of public service transformation based on population data.

Meanwhile, Director of BAKPS at the Ditjen Dukcapil, Erliani Budi Lestari, expressed appreciation to Commission II of the DPR RI, particularly Deputy Chair Bahtra Banong, for the support and commitment consistently given to strengthening population administration and driving the acceleration of public service transformation through the Dukcapil Rebranding programme.

“The support of Commission II of the DPR RI is energy and reinforcement for us to continue delivering service innovations that are adaptive, inclusive and deliver real benefits to the public,” said Erliani.

She also conveyed appreciation to the Kolaka Regency Government, which was judged to have a strong commitment to improving the quality of population administration services in the region.
