Jakarta, VIVA – Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a working meeting and a public hearing (RDPU) to discuss a number of issues facing regional governments on Thursday, 30 July 2026.

The meeting focused on the remuneration of regional heads and deputy regional heads, the systematics of revenue-sharing funds (DBH), and efforts to increase locally generated revenue (PAD).

The meeting, held during the current recess period, was led directly by the Chair of Commission II of the DPR RI, Rifqinizamy Karsayuda.

Also in attendance were Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian and his staff, the management of the Association of All Regency Governments in Indonesia (APKASI), the Association of All City Governments in Indonesia (APEKSI), and representatives of the association of deputy regional heads.

In his opening remarks, Rifqinizamy said that holding the meeting during the recess period was an unusual step, as all Commission II members should by rights be in their respective electoral districts.

However, he said, the various problems faced by regional governments needed to be resolved urgently.

“The DPR RI, including Commission II, is currently in its recess period. So this working meeting and public hearing are very special and urgent for us, because the leadership and members should already be in their respective constituencies,” said Rifqi.

Rifqinizamy explained that the meeting was held as a follow-up to a letter from the APKASI Board of Management requesting Commission II of the DPR to facilitate the discussion of a number of strategic issues in the regions.

According to him, there were three main issues at the centre of the discussions: the remuneration of regional heads and deputy regional heads, the systematics of revenue-sharing funds, and the increase of locally generated revenue.

“Today, based on a letter from the Board of Management of the Association of All Regency Governments in Indonesia (APKASI) requesting Commission II of the DPR RI to facilitate discussions on: one, the remuneration of regional heads and deputy regional heads; two, the systematics of revenue-sharing funds; three, the increase of locally generated revenue,” he said.

The NasDem Party politician revealed that the meeting was also a follow-up to a meeting between APKASI officials and Deputy Speaker of the DPR RI Sufmi Dasco Ahmad some time ago.
