Deputy Chairman of House Commission I of the Republic of Indonesia, Dave Laksono, has welcomed the handover of the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais), Lieutenant General (Letjen) Yudi Abrimantyo, stemming from the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Dave stated that the resignation of the Kabais must be accompanied by an institutional evaluation of the TNI.

“We view that every public official has a moral and institutional responsibility to maintain integrity and accountability. The Kabais’s step in handing over his position as a form of accountability for the case involving Andrie Yunus is an attitude that deserves appreciation,” said Dave to reporters on Thursday (26/3/2026).

He said that the Kabais’s resignation demonstrates awareness of the importance of transparency and public trust in state institutions. Dave views this step as a form of TNI’s commitment to upholding professionalism.

“We also see that the TNI has taken comprehensive and open investigative steps. This shows the institution’s commitment to upholding professionalism and ensuring that every process runs in accordance with applicable legal rules,” he stated.

Nevertheless, this Golkar legislator emphasised that the decision taken by TNI Kabais Lieutenant General Yudi does not stop at the personal aspect. Dave requested that this moment become an institutional evaluation for the TNI so that similar incidents do not occur.

“House Commission I of the Republic of Indonesia emphasises that this accountability mechanism does not stop at the personal aspect, but also becomes a momentum for institutional evaluation so that in the future, similar events that can damage public trust in defence and security institutions do not occur again,” said Dave.

“We invite all parties to respect the ongoing legal process, while maintaining the stability and dignity of state institutions. House Commission I of the Republic of Indonesia is committed to ensuring that the principles of professionalism, accountability, and transparency remain the foundation in every policy and action taken by state apparatus,” he added.

TNI Explanation

The TNI carried out the handover of the position of Head of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (Kabais) of the TNI. This was done as a form of TNI accountability following the acid attack case against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus involving members of Bais TNI.

“So we need to convey here, as a form of accountability, today the handover of the Kabais position has been carried out. Thank you,” said TNI Head of Information Service Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah to reporters at TNI Headquarters, Cilangkap, East Jakarta, on Wednesday (25/3).

Aulia conveyed that yesterday the TNI had held a meeting with the Ministry of Defence. In that meeting, Aulia said that the TNI together with the Defence Ministry discussed internal revitalisation of the TNI.

In addition, Aulia mentioned that the meeting was in accordance with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto. The meeting, he said, concluded that the TNI should firmly address every soldier who commits violations.

“The Indonesian National Army reaffirms its commitment by firmly addressing every legal and disciplinary violation committed by TNI soldiers,” said Aulia.
