House Commission I Urges Prioritisation of Safety After Another Soldier Falls in Lebanon
Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives, Dave Laksono, has expressed condolences over the death of a TNI member serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Corporal Rico Pramudia (31), due to an Israeli attack in Lebanon. He called on the government to prioritise the safety of soldiers following the latest loss of a peacekeeping troop in Lebanon.
“The Indonesian nation faces a loss with the falling of a TNI soldier carrying out a peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. This incident serves as a reminder that the task of maintaining world peace demands extraordinary courage, steadfastness, and sacrifice. Our soldiers have demonstrated that Indonesia stands firm in fulfilling its international mandate, with an unwavering spirit to maintain global stability and peace,” said Dave when contacted on Saturday (25/4/2026).
Dave conveyed his highest respects to the fallen soldier and the family left behind. According to him, the sacrifices of the peacekeeping troops are part of the nation’s history that affirms Indonesia’s consistent stance in advocating for world peace.
“Every step of the soldiers in the field reflects courage and steadfastness of heart, while also strengthening the resolve of all Indonesians to continue safeguarding the peace mandate with full conviction,” he added.
Furthermore, he urged the government to prioritise the safety of soldiers even more. He stated that the government must strengthen security and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of every policy.
“In the midst of escalating conflicts that are increasingly complex, the safety of soldiers remains the top priority. Commission I of the House of Representatives encourages the government, the Ministry of Defence, and the TNI to strengthen security systems, enhance logistical support, and improve coordination with UN peacekeeping forces. A thorough evaluation must continue to be conducted so that every policy is oriented towards personnel protection while safeguarding national interests,” he stated.
Regarding the discourse on repatriating the troops, Dave assessed that Indonesia must remain consistent with its international commitments. The presence of Indonesian soldiers in UNIFIL, he continued, is part of defence diplomacy that underscores Indonesia’s active role on the global stage.
“Every decision will be taken with full caution, based on the safety of soldiers and national interests, while ensuring that Indonesia’s contributions remain maintained and meaningful for regional stability. The Indonesian nation mourns, but remains steadfast. The falling of the TNI soldier in Lebanon is not the end of dedication, but rather an affirmation that Indonesia is present with courage and real commitment in maintaining world peace,” he stated.
As is known, a TNI member serving with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) fell due to an attack in Lebanon. The TNI soldier named Corporal Rico Pramudia (31) had been receiving treatment after sustaining severe injuries from an attack at the end of last month.
“UNIFIL regrets the passing of Corporal Rico Pramudia today, who was severely injured due to a projectile explosion at the base where he was stationed in Adchit Al Qusayr on the night of 29 March,” stated UNIFIL on its X account @UNIFIL_, Friday (24/4).
UNIFIL reported that Corporal Rico passed away while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Beirut due to the wounds he sustained. UNIFIL extended condolences to Rico’s family and Indonesia.
“UNIFIL extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Corporal Pramudia, as well as to the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Government, and the people of the Republic of Indonesia for this tragic and irreplaceable loss,” it said.
