Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Chairman of House Commission I Sukamta has urged the government to take firm steps regarding the death of one TNI soldier and the injuries sustained by three other TNI personnel due to an Israeli attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) headquarters in Lebanon. “We believe the state will take appropriate and measured steps, pushing for a transparent investigation process, and ensuring that this incident is followed up through applicable international mechanisms. Indonesia is a nation that upholds peace while safeguarding its honour and dignity. In situations like this, firmness must go hand in hand with wisdom,” Sukamta said in his statement in Jakarta on Monday. The parliamentarian from Yogyakarta also extended condolences over the death of the TNI soldier named Praka Farizal Rhomadhon in the attack. “We convey our deepest condolences over the passing of the TNI soldier in carrying out his noble duty as part of the world’s peacekeeping mission. May the deceased attain the best place by the side of the Almighty God, and may his bereaved family be granted strength and fortitude,” he stated. He added that the TNI’s service in this UN peacekeeping mission is a tangible manifestation of Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining global order and stability. According to him, this event serves as a reminder that the task of maintaining peace is not without risks. Nevertheless, any form of attack on peacekeeping forces cannot be justified and constitutes a serious violation of international law principles. “The investigation is still being conducted by UNIFIL,” said Aulia when confirmed in Jakarta on Monday. The investigation is being carried out to obtain complete information on who the actors behind the attack are and the motives behind it. The escalation of the conflict has triggered several attacks, one of which targeted the area where the Indonesian contingent is located, in the city of Adshit al-Qusyar, Lebanon, on Sunday (29/3). As a result, one TNI soldier was declared dead, and three other soldiers suffered minor to severe injuries. “Praka Farizal Rhomadhon was declared dead, Praka Rico Pramudia suffered severe injuries, while Praka Bayu Prakoso and Praka Arif Kurniawan suffered minor injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment,” Aulia explained.
