Batam (ANTARA) - House Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), together with the Deputy Governor of Riau Islands Province (Kepri) Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, inspected the Batu Ampar Nutritious Meals Provision Service Unit (SPPG) in Kampung Seraya, Batam City, to ensure that nutritional standards are maintained.

Member of the House of Representatives for the Kepri electoral district, Endipat Wijaya, stressed to the SPPG managers the importance of the quality of raw materials in supporting the success of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).

“It is important to ensure that the raw materials used are of very good quality, especially in terms of freshness,” said Endipat after inspecting the Batu Ampar SPPG kitchen on Friday.

During the visit, the group directly observed various facilities and stages of food processing, from sanitation aspects, storage of fresh raw materials, hygienic cooking processes, to distribution mechanisms and the implementation of standard operating procedures at the SPPG.

Endipat also urged the SPPG to use local raw materials for the MBG menu needs, thereby helping to boost the community’s economy.

“Involve the community and SMEs in the MBG raw material supply chain, because this programme is not only for nutritional health, but also to help drive the residents’ economy,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Nyanyang expressed appreciation to the Batu Ampar SPPG team for their dedication in supporting improvements in community nutrition, especially for children in Riau Islands.

“Thank you for the hard work in improving the nutrition and health of our children in Kepri,” he said.

The Batu Ampar Seraya SPPG has been operational for nine months and currently serves 10 schools and 4 Posyandus in the Batu Ampar sub-district, with a production capacity of 2,390 portions per day.

After the inspection, Deputy Governor Nyanyang and the entourage continued the activities by reviewing the MBG distribution process at SMK Kartini, Kampung Seraya.
