House Commission I Hopes Prabowo and Putin Advocate for Permanent Iran-US Ceasefire
Indonesian House of Representatives Commission I member, Oleh Soleh, has voiced his support for President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Moscow, Russia. Prabowo is scheduled to meet President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin Palace on Monday (13/4/2026) local time afternoon.
According to him, the visit holds strategic significance amid increasingly complex global geopolitical dynamics, particularly related to conflicts in the Middle East and energy security issues. “This demonstrates President Prabowo’s seriousness in realising world security and peace,” said Oleh in Jakarta on Monday (13/4/2026).
Oleh emphasised that Indonesia together with Russia can play an important role in promoting world peace. One concrete step that can be proposed is to push for a permanent ceasefire, he continued, especially regarding the war between Iran versus the United States (US) and Israel.
“Indonesia together with Russia must voice world peace. We can propose a permanent ceasefire between Iran and America, and push for the cessation of various armed conflicts,” said Oleh.
The PKB politician also highlighted Russia’s current strategic position, when President Putin is known to be maintaining communication with Iranian leaders after negotiations with the US in Islamabad, Pakistan, reached a deadlock. Oleh assessed that this opens space for broader diplomacy, including Indonesia’s involvement as a Non-Aligned country that consistently promotes peace.
