House Commission I Holds Closed-Door Meeting with Defence Minister and TNI Commander
The House of Representatives’ Commission I held a working meeting with Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin and TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto behind closed doors on Wednesday.
The meeting, conducted in the Commission I hearing room, was also attended by Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Air Chief Marshal Mohamad Tonny Harjono. All seven factions in the House were represented.
“Ladies, members of Commission I and esteemed leaders, based on the records, seven factions are present and the quorum has met the procedural requirements,” said Commission I Chair Utut Adianto during the session.
Utut stated that the meeting would be conducted in private. The commission, along with the Ministry of Defence and the three branches of the TNI, would discuss matters concerning state secrecy.
“Ladies and gentlemen, I seek your approval because this is highly strategic in nature and also contains elements of state secrecy. With this, I ask for your consent. In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, I hereby open and declare this meeting closed,” he added.
