House Commission I Completes Fit and Proper Test, Seven KIP Members to Be Announced Tomorrow

The House of Representatives’ Commission I has conducted a fit and proper test for 19 candidates for the Central Information Commission (KIP). The seven selected members will be determined by the DPR tomorrow.

“Regarding the fit and proper test process for candidates for the Central Information Commission for the 2026-2030 period, Commission I of the DPR RI has carried out the fit and proper test for 19 candidates after two participants withdrew from the selection process,” said Deputy Chairman of Commission I DPR RI Dave Laksono to reporters on Monday (29/6/2026).

“In accordance with the mandate of the Public Information Disclosure Law, Commission I of the DPR RI will appoint seven people as members of the Central Information Commission for the next term of office,” he said.

Dave emphasised that the KIP selection was carried out through an objective, professional, and transparent process. The assessment of candidates was conducted thoroughly, considering integrity, capacity, independence, track record, and understanding of the substance.

“Commission I views the Information Commission as having a strategic role in ensuring the fulfilment of the public’s right to obtain information while strengthening the quality of democracy,” he stated.

He said the determination of the Central Information Commission members is carried out in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations. He hopes the KIP commissioners will possess integrity and independence.

“All stages are carried out carefully and prioritise deliberation to achieve the best decision,” said the Golkar Party legislator.

“We hope the selected commissioners will be figures with integrity, independence, and a strong commitment to strengthening public information services as one of the important pillars of democracy in Indonesia. The names will be announced tomorrow,” Dave added.
