The Government and the House of Representatives (DPR) have agreed to encourage the formation of a Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Online Loans and Online Gambling during the working committee discussions for the Amendment to the Financial Sector Development and Strengthening Law (UU P2SK) Number 4 of 2023.

“The Government agrees with the DPR’s view that the President should form a task force responsible for preventing and handling unauthorised business activities within the financial sector. This includes licensed business activities that are indicated to violate regulations or consumer protection, as well as the use of financial sector technological innovations for activities suspected of being gambling-related,” stated Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa during a working meeting with Commission XI of the DPR, Wednesday (3/6/2026).

According to Purbaya, the task force will consist of financial sector authorities, financial strategy reporting and analysis authorities, relevant ministries and agencies, and law enforcement officials.

As a note, the administration of President Joko Widodo previously formed an Online Gambling Eradication Task Force in 2024. At that time, Jokowi signed Presidential Decree (Keppres) Number 21 of 2024 regarding the formation of this task force. However, in its implementation, the task force was deemed to have not achieved maximum results.
