House and Government Agree Part-Time PPPK Teachers to Become Full-Time in 2027

The House of Representatives (DPR) and the government have finalised the status of teachers holding Government Employee with Work Agreement (PPPK) positions and civil servants (ASN). Under the finalised outcome, part-time PPPK teachers will be given the opportunity to become full-time PPPK teachers starting in 2027.

A coordination meeting between the DPR and the government was held at the DPR building in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/8/2026). The meeting was chaired by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad.

Dasco said the discussions had reached the finalisation stage. In addition to the status of part-time PPPK teachers, the meeting also discussed the opportunity for PPPK teachers to become civil servants (PNS).

“In carrying out its oversight function, the DPR RI has held several coordination meetings due to various inputs received by the DPR RI regarding the issue of part-time PPPK, PPPK, and the desire of PPPK teachers to become PNS, teachers within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education,” Dasco said after the meeting.

“Today we have reached the finalisation of the meeting results regarding the status of part-time PPPK teachers, PPPK who wish to become PNS within the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, including state madrasah teachers and kindergarten teachers,” he continued.

On the same occasion, Minister for State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) Rini Widyantini said there are currently 955,245 PPPK working as teachers. Meanwhile, the number of part-time PPPK working as teachers stands at 231,246.

“At present, the number of PPPK specifically for teachers is 955,245, and the number of part-time PPPK whose profession is teacher is 231,246,” she said.

Rini said there is currently a projected need for national teacher fulfilment of 526,689 positions. She said these positions comprise teachers under the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, as well as Sekolah Rakyat and Sekolah Garuda.

“Part-time PPPK will be given the opportunity to become full-time PPPK, which will be carried out in 2027,” she said.
