Lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea has announced his withdrawal as legal counsel for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Hotman stated the decision was made to focus on his health. “I informed him two days ago that I am withdrawing as his lawyer,” Hotman said in Jakarta on Thursday. He explained that he is suffering from a pinched nerve and had undergone surgery on 9 July 2026. Although he initially took on Febrie’s case shortly after the operation, the workload proved too demanding. “The doctor’s instructions were clear that I should not work for two weeks. I started feeling the pain again just four days later,” he added. Hotman confirmed that Febrie Adriansyah accepted his decision and understood the situation. “He is a friend, and he understood,” Hotman said. He noted that fellow lawyer Massagus Farizi will continue to represent Febrie. Hotman had previously announced on Friday, 17 July 2026, that he had received a power of attorney to represent Febrie Adriansyah, who is under investigation for alleged corruption and money laundering in the handling of the PT Asabri case by the Attorney General’s Office for the 2020–2024 period.
