Hotman Paris Withdraws as Febrie Adriansyah's Lawyer, Cites Pinched Nerve
Prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea has revealed the reason behind his decision to withdraw as legal counsel for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. The decision was taken not because of the case he was handling, but due to his continuously declining health condition. Hotman admitted he had conveyed the decision to Febrie two days ago. According to him, the illness he is suffering from means he is no longer able to provide maximum legal assistance. Hotman revealed that he is currently battling a pinched nerve condition, which has recently worsened. The condition has severely limited his activities, especially his work as a lawyer which requires high concentration. He also admitted that Febrie had asked him to postpone the decision. However, Hotman worried that his health condition would deteriorate further if he forced himself to continue handling the case. ‘He suggested I wait a few more days. But if my brain keeps thinking and my body is like this, I’m afraid it will get worse,’ he said on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Furthermore, Hotman confirmed he will undergo further treatment in Singapore. The doctor treating him has reportedly reprimanded him several times to reduce his work activities. ‘My back still hurts. Yes, that illness. Tomorrow at dawn I will fly to Singapore. That’s the first thing. The doctor there has been angry, asking why I’m still working like this,’ he said.
