Hotman Paris' Wealth Under Scrutiny Following Police Report, Assets Estimated at Rp4.5 Trillion

The name of prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea has once again drawn public attention after he was reported to the Polda Metro Jaya for alleged insult against the journalism profession. Amid the ongoing legal process, the public is once again scrutinising the vast wealth owned by the senior advocate. The report against Hotman Paris was received by the Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT) of Polda Metro Jaya under number LP/B/5291/VII/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA, dated 20 July 2026. The Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the report. Hotman was reported in connection with an alleged violation of Article 242 of Law Number 1 of 2023 after the central board of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) discovered a video containing his statements to a number of journalists at the Indonesian Attorney General’s Office on 17 July 2026. Regardless of the case, Hotman Paris has long been known as one of the lawyers with the most luxurious lifestyles in Indonesia. Various assets, businesses, and a collection of premium vehicles mean his wealth is often in the spotlight. Based on various media reports and a number of statements by Hotman Paris in interviews, his total wealth is estimated to reach around Rp4.5 trillion. This figure does not come from an official wealth report, but rather an estimate referring to the value of assets, businesses, investments, and various sources of income accumulated over decades of his career. This amount makes Hotman Paris one of the lawyers with the largest assets in Indonesia. The majority of Hotman Paris’ wealth comes from his profession as an advocate. Over more than four decades of his career, he has handled various major cases, ranging from corporate disputes and international arbitration to cases involving national figures and public personalities. Hotman is also known for his high legal fees, particularly for large-scale business and corporate cases. On several occasions, he has revealed that the fee for handling a case can reach billions of rupiah, depending on the complexity of the case. In addition to earning income from legal services, Hotman Paris has also built his wealth through property investments.
