Hotman Paris Offers Legal Aid to Family of Man Beaten to Death in Bali

The crying of a young girl upon seeing the body of her father, who was suspected of stealing a chicken, has gone viral on social media. The father, identified by the initials IKD, died after being assaulted by a mob when he was caught allegedly stealing a chicken in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency, Bali, on Friday.

The incident has drawn the attention of renowned lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea. Hotman said he would provide legal assistance if the family requires it, according to a statement on his Instagram account on Sunday, 26 July.

“If needed, the Hotman 911 team is ready to provide legal help,” read the caption of Hotman Paris’s post, quoted on Monday, 27 July.

Not only that, in another post Hotman Paris also said he would pay for the girl’s schooling.

“Hotman will pay your school fees!” read another caption from his post.

In the post, Hotman also remarked that the father’s actions were merely an attempt to provide for his family.

“Perhaps your dad needed a chicken to feed his family!” the post continued.

Hotman also conveyed a message seemingly directed at his own children. As is known, the relationship between Hotman and his son has become strained. His eldest son, Frank Alexander Hutapea, previously issued a sharp rebuke aimed at his father after becoming legal counsel for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.

“For children who live in luxury off their parents, this case should be a moment of self-reflection. This case is a lesson for children living in luxury off their parents: remember to be grateful,” Hotman Paris wrote.

As previously reported, a man with the initials IKD died after being beaten by residents in Banjar Dinas Juwuk Legi, Batunya Village, Baturiti Subdistrict, Tabanan Regency, Bali.

The tragedy began at around 01:30 local time (WITA). At the time, IKD was caught by residents in the act of attempting to steal a chicken belonging to I Wayan Adi Suteja.

Upon realising what was happening, local residents moved to apprehend the suspect en masse. Unfortunately, the situation escalated beyond control.
