Hotman Paris' Instagram Followers Drop After Defending Former Jampidsus Febrie Ardiansyah
Lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea has claimed he was appointed as the legal counsel for former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Ardiansyah. Following his appointment, the number of followers on Hotman Paris’ Instagram account dropped by tens of thousands.
Hotman stated he was appointed as Febrie’s lawyer on Friday (17/7/2026). On the same day, Hotman accompanied Febrie during an examination at the Attorney General’s Office building in South Jakarta. Hotman Paris was seen arriving at the building at 09.45 WIB, entering through the basement area with his team. “Yes. The power of attorney was officially signed this morning,” Hotman said when asked if he was representing Febrie Ardiansyah.
According to data from Social Blade cited on Sunday (19/7/2026), the decline in Hotman’s Instagram followers was first observed on Saturday (18/7). The data showed that 29,466 accounts unfollowed him, bringing his total followers down to 9,810,105. Today, a further 15,898 users unfollowed the account, reducing the total to 9,794,207. A check by detikcom at 11.35 WIB showed Hotman’s followers at 9.7 million.
Looking at the past week, data from Monday recorded an increase of around 2,000 followers on Hotman’s account. Similar increases of about 2,000 accounts occurred on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last Thursday, Social Blade data recorded an increase of 1,400 followers, and on Friday, an increase of 1,200. However, the follower count then declined after Hotman announced he was defending Febrie.
Meanwhile, a variety of comments from Instagram users flooded Hotman’s account regarding the drop in followers. In several of Hotman Paris’ latest posts uploaded around five hours ago, a number of accounts commented that his followers had dropped drastically. Some netizens also flocked to announce they had just unfollowed Hotman’s account.
Regarding Febrie Ardiansyah’s case, the Attorney General’s Office confirmed that Febrie Adriansyah and Don Ritto are suspects. The office stated Febrie is a suspect in a case of alleged corruption and money laundering related to PT ASABRI. “Based on the investigation warrant from the Kortas Polri investigators, for one case, namely related to corruption and money laundering in the ASABRI case,” said the Head of the Attorney General’s Office Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, at the Attorney General’s Office building in South Jakarta on Friday (17/7). Anang stated Febrie was named a suspect in the alleged corruption and money laundering at ASABRI for the period 2020-2024. Meanwhile, Don Ritto was named a suspect for alleged money laundering. Anang noted that the investigation into alleged corruption cases related to Krakatau Steel and PLN is still ongoing, and the police investigation remains general in nature. “For both cases, it is still a general investigation by police investigators,” Anang said. Febrie underwent questioning on Friday, with Hotman present to accompany him as his legal counsel.
