Hotman Paris Defends Raffi Ahmad After Customs Bribery Case, Challenges Accusers to Come Forward

Raffi Ahmad suddenly found himself in the spotlight after his name was mentioned during a trial for an alleged goods import bribery case connected to the company Blueray Cargo. The appearance of the Presidential Special Envoy for Youth and Arts Development has given rise to various speculations regarding his possible involvement in the matter. However, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stressed that the mere mention of a person’s name in a trial cannot be directly interpreted to mean that individual is involved in a criminal act of corruption. Acting Director of KPK Investigations, Achmad Taufik Husein, explained that Raffi’s name emerged during proceedings related to the shipment of electronic goods from the United States via PT Blueray. “It is true that, as a fact, Mr RA (Raffi Ahmad) deposited goods,” said Achmad Taufik Husein at the Merah Putih Building. According to Taufik, to date investigators have not uncovered facts indicating a direct link between Raffi Ahmad and the alleged corruption in this case. “Yesterday we did not develop it too far because we had not reached facts that strengthen the notion that it was part of the Blueray incident involving immigration processing at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, so we did not issue a summons,” he stated. Nonetheless, Taufik emphasised that investigators remain open to further examination if new information or evidence relevant to the case emerges during subsequent court proceedings. “Now, whether these trial facts will become new facts that then need investigating, we will certainly conduct further checks,” he said. Amid the widespread public discussion, Raffi Ahmad has opted to pursue legal channels to respond to the various accusations circulating. Nagita Slavina’s husband is reportedly aggrieved by a number of narratives that developed after his name appeared in the trial. To handle the situation, Raffi Ahmad sought the assistance of high-profile lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea.
