Hotman Paris Apologises Again for Dragging Prabowo into Febrie Case

In a post on his personal Instagram account, Hotman Paris said he specifically apologised to President Prabowo Subianto, Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and Metro Jaya Police Chief Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri for his statements during a press conference at the Attorney General’s Office. “Hotman apologises if any of my words or actions during the press conference after the examination of the suspect, the former Jampidsus, on 17 July were inappropriate,” he said. Hotman admitted that his statement mentioning President Prabowo was made purely in the interest of defending his client. He stressed there was no other motivation or political interest whatsoever. Previously, Hotman had described the case against Febrie as a form of criminalisation, expressing dismay at his client’s current condition. He claimed that during his tenure, Febrie was a figure Prabowo was proud of for saving state assets worth a total of Rp430 trillion. Meanwhile, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi emphasised that the government is leaving the case entirely to the legal process and urged all parties not to link it to the President. “Do not associate this with the President. We fully return this to the applicable legal mechanism,” Pras said after a meeting at the House of Representatives’ Commission V on Monday. He also asserted that law enforcement officials do not need to seek the President’s permission to process a legal case.
