Hotman Paris Abruptly Resigns as Febrie Adriansyah's Lawyer After Just One Week

Jakarta – Prominent lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea has decided to withdraw from the legal team representing former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), Febrie Adriansyah. The decision was announced just days after he publicly accepted the brief. Hotman stated he had informed Febrie of his resignation two days prior, citing his health condition as the primary reason for ending the legal representation. “I told my client, Febrie, two days ago that I am resigning,” he said on Thursday, 23 July 2026. He stressed that his decision was not related to the substance of the case facing Febrie, but rather due to concerns that his health could worsen. “I told him it was because of my health condition, which could become severe, so I informed him I was resigning,” he added. Previously, Hotman Paris had announced he was joining Febrie Adriansyah’s legal team after accompanying him during an examination at the Attorney General’s Office on Friday, 17 July 2026. At the time, he explained his motivation was purely a calling, noting the former Jampidsus had a strong track record of recovering state assets and losses in several corruption cases. “I felt concerned. This Jampidsus was someone President Prabowo was proud of, because with him the state managed to recover Rp 300 trillion in one year through the PKH task force,” he had said.
