Hotels, shops change names

PURWOKERTO, Central Java: Hotels, restaurants and stores throughout the province have begun to replace foreign names with Indonesian ones.

Central Java Governor Soewardi has asked restaurants, hotels and shops in the province to give up their foreign names before Indonesia's 50th Independence Day, which falls on Aug. 17.

Two hotels in Purwokerto have changed their names, respectively, from the "Queen Garden Hotel" to the "Hotel Taman Ratu" and from the "Dynasty Hotel" to "Hotel Dinasti".

A number of restaurants in the town have followed suit, with "Satay House Corner" becoming "Rumah Sate Pojokan" and "Softy Drink Sweet Corner" becoming "Sudut Manis Minuman Lembut". (wah/mds)
