Hotels refuse to hire students
JAKARTA (JP): The chief of Jakarta office of Tourism, Post and Telecommunications Ministry, Pudjo Basuki, said luxurious hotels in Jakarta are reluctant to employ students during their school holidays.
"From the 64 existing luxurious hotels in town there are only six which employ high school students during their holidays," he said.
The six hotels are Jakarta Hilton International, Le Meridien and Borobudur Inter Continental in Central Jakarta, Horizon and the Putri Duyung Cottages in Ancol, North Jakarta and Garden Hotel in South Jakarta.
Pudjo said his office would send letters to 58 other hotels inquiring why they are reluctant to help the government promote the apprenticeship program.(mas)
