Hotels and Restaurants in Mataram Given One Month to Pay Tax Arrears

The Mataram City Government (Pemkot) through the Regional Financial Agency (BKD) has granted a one-month extension to taxpayers (WP), particularly in the hotel and restaurant sector, to settle their tax arrears.

Head of BKD Mataram City, Muhamad Ramayoga, stated that after the deadline expires, his office will implement warnings in stages.

“We are giving one month; after that, there will be warning one, two, and three. There are stages (to the warnings),” said Ramayoga on Tuesday (5/5/2026).

Ramayoga hopes the extension can be utilised as best as possible by taxpayers, so they can promptly resolve their tax arrears.

“It is not impossible with their current condition that there is time for them to settle it (the arrears),” he explained.

Previously reported, Pemkot Mataram responded to complaints from hotel business operators regarding the drop in room occupancy rates since early 2026 until April. Pemkot allows business operators to submit letters requesting relief incentives for Land and Building Tax (PBB).

“We will first see further developments; if it is possible, there are rules if they want to reduce or provide relief,” said Head of the Regional Financial Agency (BKD) of Mataram City, Muhamad Ramayoga, on Monday (4/5/2026).

Ramayoga explained that every request for tax relief must be submitted officially through a letter. After that, a government team will go directly to the field to conduct verification.

He also asked hotel business operators to detail the problems they have faced since early this year until April 2026 in that letter.

“Regarding the issue of requesting relief for taxes and so on, they will first send a letter. From the letter, a team will come down to see (whether it is indeed quiet or not). We cannot just look at it on the table,” he explained.
